International Exchange Spotlight – Enzo & Pierre

Meet Enzo. He’s from Tokyo, Japan. Meet Pierre. He’s from Calgary, Alberta.

Enzo is attending Lycée Louis Pasteur, Calgary’s only lycée, for six weeks. Thereafter, Pierre will be headed to Tokyo to attend the Lycée Français International de Tokyo. Both Enzo and Pierre attend lycées that have a partnership with the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE), a prestigious network of 495 schools in 137 countries.

It all started when Pierre mentioned to Jocelyne Edwards, Head of School at Lycée Louis Pasteur, that he wanted to visit Japan. Thanks to the help of Madame Edwards, Pierre is now scheduled to study in Tokyo for six weeks this coming May.

“When you enroll your child in an AEFE school, you join a network of schools who all teach the French Ministry of Education curriculum” explained Madame Edwards. “This allows students to enjoy a trimester or year abroad in schools around the globe. Students and their families can rest assured that they will continue to receive a high-quality standard of instruction, allowing them to transition seamlessly between schools.”

For Pierre, the opportunity to travel to Tokyo is a dream come true.

“I have always been fascinated with Japanese culture and wanted to experience it first hand,” says Pierre. “I can’t wait to visit temples and walk around the Shibuya district. Shibuya is so densely populated. All of it will be so different from Canada.”

Every year, Lycée Louis Pasteur welcome students from lycées around the world. International students are part of what makes Lycée Louis Pasteur a truly multicultural school. International exchange opportunities like this one reflect Lycée Louis Pasteur’s unique partnership with the AEFE.

Lycée Louis Pasteur students in Grades 9 to 12 are eligible to study abroad.
