Welcome To Lycée International De Calgary

Cultivating excellence
since 1966

The path to true bilingual excellence begins here. Learn more about our unique dual curriculum independent school, located in Altadore

In 2026, Lycée international de Calgaryproudly celebrates our 60th anniversary

Marking six decades as a pioneer of French education and academic excellence in Alberta. Our story began in 1966 as Lycée Louis Pasteur, founded to provide a rigorous education for the children of French energy industry professionals who relocated to Calgary. Since then, we have grown from our specialized roots to become one of Calgary’s most enduring independent schools.

Our journey of transformation reached a pivotal milestone in 1982, when we became a society and opened our doors to welcome Canadian families seeking premier French education. This commitment to our local community was further strengthened in 2000, when we moved to our current home in Altadore. Today, we are home to approximately 470 students from preschool to grade 12. As a proud member of the global AEFE network, we continue to cultivate bilingual citizens ready to shape the future.

WHY CHOOSE US?

Bilingualism

Our immersive environment ensures students gain significant benefits beyond simply communicating in two languages, achieving a deep, functional proficiency known as true bilingualism

A Truly International School

Our unique environment is engineered to develop more than just bilingualism; we cultivate true global citizens with the capacity to think, connect, and thrive across cultures. This commitment is not just written into our curriculum—it is lived every day within our vibrant community.

Our Incredible Teachers

The majority of our teachers are certified by the French Ministry of National Education and are often recruited through the AEFE network. This ensures unparalleled rigour and expertise across all levels.

Our ACADEMIC PROGRAM

Petite Section, for three-year-olds, and Moyenne Section for four-year-olds, are dedicated to laying a strong groundwork for French language acquisition, social-emotional development, and early academic readiness.
Known as Grande Section, it is the final and crucial year of our early years program (Maternelle). This stage serves as the bridge between play-based learning and the formal academic structure of elementary school.
Our elementary school program is where students solidify foundational literacy and numeracy skills while becoming truly comfortable and competent in our demanding dual-curriculum environment
Known as collège, this critical stage, spanning grades 6 to 9 (or Sixième to Troisième), is where we expand on elementary foundations, focusing on abstract concepts, rigorous analysis, and cross-disciplinary learning.
This rigorous three-year program is specifically designed to transition students from secondary education to the demands of higher education learning worldwide.
We welcome students from France and AEFE schools to continue their curriculum seamlessly in Calgary while living with a host family. Learn more.

Testimonials

For me, the favorite thing about school is more of my daughter’s favourite thing about the school. She really loves her teacher, who is incredibly supportive and caring and she loves the after school activities. There is a wide variety of after school activities from cooking to art class to circus.

(We like) The sense of community, the diverse and dynamic level of education from art and music to science and math, the beautiful, warm and stunningly designed library, and the unique opportunity for our child to have a gateway to the world with the baccalaureate diploma. It is hard not to cry whenever we attend a Lycée event or activity as I just feel so grateful to be able to provide our child with a well-rounded, well-nurtured and well implemented education and future.

We were looking for a full time preschool program that was academically focused and that could challenge her (our daughter)…
We toured a lot of schools in our city and we went on a tour for the Lycée and it really just clicked for us. We are an English speaking household and to receive a bilingual education was kind of a forefront for us.
