Our French Language Intensive Program, or FLIP for short, is one-of-a-kind in Calgary!
This program is intended for new students enrolling in Grade 1 & 2 who have little or no prior exposure to the French language.
This program allows students to learn French in a small class setting. Individualized learning plans are developed and significant one-on-one time with a dedicated teacher is offered to ensure language development.
Most students transition into the Lycée’s regular bilingual academic stream by the end of the school year.

FLIP for French begins with each academic year in September.
FLIP for French allows students to focus on learning French in a small class setting.
The program offers individualized learning plans and significant one-on-one time with a dedicated teacher. FLIP students will quickly grasp French on a proficient level allowing them to continue their education in the bilingual Lycée Programs.
Students are in class with other students and in their grade level for all French & English lessons. Students also socialize with all students in their year groups at recess and lunchtime and are welcome to participate in our Before and After School Program.
Additionally, FLIP students participate in all school trips for their grade. As students progress, they gradually integrate more regular classroom activities into their schedule.
Teachers responsible for this program are well-rounded educators with experience in teaching French as a second language.
No, there are no additional fees for FLIP for French!
Prior to acceptance, students are assessed in both French and English in order to determine eligibility.
English proficiency is required. If the student is accepted into FLIP for French, an individualized learned program is developed to meet the student’s learning needs and styles.
