Elementary (Gr 1-5)

Our elementary school program spans Grades 1 through 5, called CP, or Cours Préparatoire to CM2, or Cours Moyen 2 in the French system. This stage is where students solidify foundational literacy and numeracy skills while becoming truly comfortable and competent in our demanding dual-curriculum environment.

Dual Curriculum

The academic structure is purposefully designed to prioritize the rigor of the French system while seamlessly integrating core Canadian subjects.

  • French Core: The large majority of the school day is dedicated to the curriculum from the French Ministry of Education, covering core subjects like, Langage, Géographie, Mathématiques, Dictée, Sciences et technologie, and Histoire. This instruction is led by a dedicated, French-certified teacher in their respective classroom.
  • Canadian Integration: English, Social Studies and Art are taught in English by a dedicated and provincially certified teacher.
  • Enrichment: Specialist teachers in technology, art and music are formally added to the curriculum at this level, further enriching the students’ educational experience with dedicated teachers for all three subjects.
  • Overnight field trips: Fostering the development of autonomy and curiosity in a safe and well organized environment, overnight field trips begin in grade 3 until grade 5, with a 1 night trip to Drumheller for a full week in Montreal.

Focused Learning Environment

We prioritize an environment conducive to dual-language instruction and personalized development:

  • To maximize individualized attention during this crucial foundational stage, classes are intentionally kept to fewer than 20 students per class until CE2 (grade 3).
  • Students benefit from having a single, dedicated French-certified teacher for their core subjects, ensuring consistency and strong student-teacher relationships.

This structure allows us to build deep competence in both languages and academic domains, preparing every student for the advanced learning ahead.
