Calgary’s premier private French school, in the community of southwest Altadore.
A full school day of learning in French. No prior French is needed. Provide your child with learning fundamentals that prepare them for life.
Each student will benefit from individual attention with our smaller class sizes. Our teachers are able to focus on the unique learning styles of each child.
Our program teaches the French Ministry of Education and Alberta Education curricula together. Enrolling at our school provides exclusive access to our international network for study abroad opportunities.
Our entire campus is accessible to students of all ages. From individual classrooms, to common shared facility spaces such as the gymnasium, library, cafeteria, and climbing wall. Our school grounds offer a great outdoor space and student-designed playground for playing before and after school, or during recess and Physical-Education.
Whether it’s music, dance, painting or badminton, basketball, or indoor rock climbing; Lycée international de Calgary has the facilities guaranteed to provide your child with a top-tier education that extends far beyond the classroom. We give our students all the tools to let them cultivate new skills and interests, and to live an active lifestyle!
Lycée international de Calgary teaches two curricula - setting it apart from French immersion and Francophone schools in Calgary, where the Alberta curriculum is taught in French.
When you enrol your child at Lycée Calgary, you join an international network of over 500 schools in 140 countries, making studying abroad or transferring to another Lycée more accessible than ever.
The French curriculum is taught in French by French-native speakers. The Alberta curriculum is taught in English by English-native speakers.
This school year, 96% of the teachers delivering the French curriculum have received their teaching credentials from the French Ministry of Education.
Preschool Program (3 & 4-year-olds) & Kindergarten Applicants
Prospective students will undergo a 15-minute informal evaluation – conducted in the applicant’s preferred language (French or English).
They may also be invited to take part in a trial day.
FLIP Program (French Language Intensive Program) Applicants
Grade 1 & 2 students with no prior French exposure will undergo assessments in English and math.
They may also be invited to participate in a trial day to determine if the FLIP program would be a good fit.
Elementary, Junior High, & High School Applicants
Grades 3 to 12 students with prior French instruction will undergo assessments in French, English, and math.
These assessments will evaluate the prospective student’s reading comprehension, writing skills and mathematical abilities.
AEFE School Network Applicants
Students arriving from a public or private institution accredited by the French Ministry of Education may be admitted into the grade listed on the final report card provided by the institution, space permitting.
They may also be required to complete assessments (French, English and math) on a case-by-case basis.
While applications are accepted throughout the school year, parents are encouraged to submit their application as soon as possible, since space is limited and spots tend to fill early in the school year.
